Hotel occupancy in Puerto Plata increases
PUERTO PLATA -. Tourism recovery has been excellent for Puerto Plata, thanks to investments by public and private sectors, so it starts to give positive results in the hospitality industry for this destination on the north coast.
According to experts in the field who say, “Puerto Plata is at its best when it comes to its tourism industry.”
The hotels in Cabarete, Sosua, Playa Dorada, Marapica, Cofresi and Maimon recorded in recent weeks excellent occupations, while growing domestic and foreign visit of tourists to the North Coast. The city has had a growth in the average occupancy rate of 7.6%. In this aspect, Puerto Plata passage of a 73.3% in January 2013 to 78.9% in 2014 in relation to its hotel occupancy.
Meanwhile, Sosúa and Cabarete fell to 0.8%, because 66.0% recorded in January 2013 to 65.5% so far this year.
Hotels in Playa Dorada have regained a flow of Americans, Canadians and European tourists, reminding of what happened in the 70′s and 80′s when this complex became the largest in the Dominican Republic.
