Government starts Puerto Plata – Las Terrenas road safety patrol
Puerto Plata.- Public Works minister Gonzalo Castillo on Wednesday inaugurated the Roadside Protection and Assistance Patrol, to benefit motorist along the entire Atlantic coast from Puerto Plata to Las Terrenas, in northeastern Samaná province.
He said the Patrol covers the route used by thousands of tourists who visit the country each year, who in his view can now enjoy the area’s natural beauty with greater safety.”We’re confident that the sense of security which our foreign and local visitors feel contribute to the growth and development of these communities.”
Castillo stressed the effort by Public Works’ Military and the Police Commission, which secures and protects the country’s major roads and motorways.
The official headed the ceremony to open the Puerto Plata-Sosua-Cabarete-Río San Juan-Cabrera-Nagua-Las Terrenas Roadside and Assistance and Protection Service, held at Puerto Plata’s Grand Paradise Playa Dorada, attended by government officials and military and police commanders.
