Santo Domingo.- Finance minister Simón Lizardo on Wednesday announced offers from several banks and international credit agencies to finance a coal-fired power plant of 720 megawatts, and to extend Line 2 of the Santo Domingo Metro, among other infrastructure.
In a statement, Finance said the official accompanied by the Dominican delegation also received the proposals while attending annual governors meetings of the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) and of the Inter-American Investment Corporation (CII) in Brazil, to discuss issues on Latin America’s and the Caribbean’s economic and social development.
The statement adds that Italy’s export credit agency –SACE- stated an interest to invest in the coal-fired plant, guaranteeing financing of around US$500.0 million. “Representatives of the SACE Agency were to present an updated financing proposal to the Dominican Government in this regard.”
