GOL opens Brazilian market in La Romana – Bayahibe
On Sunday afternoon, December 7th, the first GOL flight from Sao Paulo landed into the Casa de Campo – La Romana International Airport, met by the traditional water salute.
In attendance to welcome this first flight was Claudio Silvestri, Chairman & CEO of Premier Resorts and Hotels, who worked closely with GOL, CVC, the DR Ministry of Tourism and its OPT in Sao Paulo, as well as all the hotels in La Romana-Bayahibe, the local airport and the cruise port, to open the Brazilian market and bring this flight and its 155 weekly passengers to the area.
Also taking part in the ceremony was Luis-Emilio Rodriguez, Director of the La Romana – Casa de Campo International Airport, the La Romana Port and the president of ASONAHORES, the Dominican Republic’s Hotel and Tourism Association, and Andres Fernandez, commercial, Airport & Port Manager for Central Romana, who were both also instrumental making this first leap into the Brazilian market a reality.
For his part, Luis-Emilio Rodriguez expressed his satisfaction at having GOL arriving weekly to the La Romana airport, and his excitement at having the Brazilian tourism market opened to the La Romana – Bayahibe area.
This is the first direct flight from Brazil to land in our region and with some passengers heading directly to the MSC Música, docked in the Casa de Campo–La Romana International Port, there is significant room for growth and additional flights for Brazilian tourists flying in to visit the area. CVC, Brazil’s largest travel agency group who visited La Romana-Bayahibe in July of this year indicated that it is looking for ways to bring a greater volume of tourists to our magnificent destination.
The GOL flight will arrive on a weekly basis from the Guarulhos International Airport in Sao Paulo, Brazil to Casa de Campo – La Romana International Airport at 14:45 Sundays, departing again at 15:45 on the same day. – See more at: Seats on these flights are all pre-booked by MSC Cruises and CVC, meaning that tickets are not on sale to the general public at this time.
