Germans kick off Dominican Republic’s cruise season
Santo Domingo.- Dominican Republic kicks off its 2014 – 2015 cruise season with the arrival of German ship Aida Luna at Sans Souci Port, and two new cruise lines, Croisières de France: Pullmantour and Crystal Cruise, to Santo Domingo Port.
Dominican travelers can also travel aboard the ship “Horizon”, which will offer the route: Santo Domingo, La Romana, St Maarten, Guadeloupe, Martinique and Isla Margarita.
Sans Souci Ports executive director Jaime Castillo said given cruise tourism’s importance for Santo Domingo, urged citizens and authorities to support the sector to achieve a successful season “The generation of foreign exchange derived from this activity is around US$11.4 million per 100,000 passengers.”
He said Sans Souci works with the Tourism Police, the Metropolitan Transit Authority, the Navy, the National Police, among other agencies to provide a pleasant and safe stay for cruise passengers.
