Foreigners mostly Haitians march in demand of starting regulization plan in Puerto plata
PUERTO PLATA – Today dozens of foreigners mostly Haitian nationals marched from the courthouse to the government building of the city, demanding that the Ministry of Interior and Police, start in this province the National Foreign Regularization Plan.
These foreigners were represented by the head of Human Rights and Advocacy Training Center and Social and Agrarian Action (CEFASA); Claudio Urrutia, who explained that this mobilization is carried out in view of the Executive promulgated by Decree 327-13 dated November 29, 2013 the National Plan for the Regularization of Foreigners will run for one year from its execution .
The foreign representative stated that “on Monday, June 2, 2014 the beginning of the implementation of the National Plan of Adjustment for the entire national territory started, through the provincial governments were supposed to take initiative, but unfortunately Puerto Plata authorities have missed a month, here the government has not established an office for registration and subsequent regularization of foreigners as it only been launched in nine provinces across the country. “
These protesters were greeted by the provincial governor of Puerto Plata; Eridania Llibre Ortiz, who assured that by the orders of the Dominican Government an office was built on the left side of the local government building, where in the coming days they will begin accepting documents from all foreigners to legalize their immigration status in the country through the National Reorganization Plan promulgated by the President; Danilo Medina Sánchez.
