First cruise ship expected in December in Maimón
During a press meeting at Saturday 3 May in the parlor of the hotel Riu it was announced that the cruise terminal in Maimón will receive the first cruise liner in December. Both Maimón as well as Puerto Plata, said the press officer, are ready to receive the cruise ships, of which each can transport some four thousand tourists. Major General Manuel Castro Castillo of the National Police, present at the press meeting, assured that additional measures have been taken to ensure the safety of the tourists. There are two additional police posts at both the cruise terminal and in the center of Puerto Plata. It is expected that Sosúa and Cabarete will benefit from an increase in the number of tourists. Some of the tourists will stay a few days in the luxury hotels on the north coast to visit the tourist attractions of Sosúa and Cabarete.
