Farmers’ Christmas parade in Sosúa

The farmers from the Association for Farmers of the North Coast (La Asociación de Ganaderos the Zona Norte) held a horseback riding parade through the streets of Sosúa on Saturday, December 28th. The parade was preceded by a sound truck with Mexican music.

It was music that is traditionally played at rodeos all over the world (mainly Mexico and Texas). Behind the sound truck the farmers followed on horses, demonstrating their skilled riding. With this parade, the cattle breeders wanted to bring to attention of the residents of Sosúa that in the area there are productive active farms, and that they are also of economic importance to the north coast. The north coast not only depends on tourism, it has other economic value and a source of employment, and that includes livestock breeding. The ride through the streets of Sosúa finally ended on the beach, where the national dish Sancochoat the restaurant “Andres”  was awaiting the riders.
