Dominicans celebrate “Reyes” (Three Kings Day) today
Santo Domingo.– Today January 6th, Dominican families celebrate “El día de los tres reyes magos” or Three Kings Day – the feast of the Epiphany. It is a national holiday.
This is the day when most Dominican children receive their Christmas gifts, and toy stores around the country have been full of shoppers in the run up to the special celebration.
Other traditions associated with Reyes include leaving hay and cigars for the visiting Kings and their camels and processions like the one organized by the Fire Brigade through the Colonial Zone of Santo Domingo.
