Dominican women beat Germany and Tunisia in World Championship
Trieste, Italy.- The Dominican Republic’s Bethania De La Cruz De Pena topped the scoring charts with 33 points on Day 1 of the 17th edition of the FIVB Volleyball Women’s World Championship.
The Caribbean queens kicked off their campaign with a five-set win over Germany on Tuesday, and a three-set win over Tunisia in Pool A for their second-straight win.
The 24 teams participating in the World Championship, which is taking place in the Italian cities of Bari, Milan, Modena, Rome, Trieste and Verona, are divided into four pools of six teams for the first competition round, with the top four teams in each pool advancing to the second phase.
