Dominican women advance at Volleyball Championship

Rome.- The Dominican Republic battled for its fifth straight win in group A of the Volleyball World Championship, three sets to two over Italy (25-15, 25-16, 25-21, 16-25, 15-8), to concluded the first round on Sunday.

The Dominican women will now be playing in Group E starting Wednesday. The locals’ first challenge will be against Belgium, 11am (Dominican time).

More than 8,640 fans attended the game, Dominican Republic’s third win in five sets in Group A and the second in two days. Despite the defeat, the Italian women ended on top of Group A, with 13 points and a 4-1 record.
