Dominican Republic among volleyball giants
Bari, Palaflorio, Italy.- Dominican Republic’s women on Sunday made history in the final day of the second phase of the world Volleyball Championship being held in Bari, Italy, despite having lost their second match to Japan in five sets (2-3).
It was a virtual repeat of yesterday’s game against China, ranked 5th in the world, when the Dominicans lost the first two sets and then won the next two, but failed on the fifth.
Despite the setback, the Dominicans soared to become of the world’s top six teams and advance to the third round of the championship, joined by China, Italy, United States, Brazil and Japan.
