Dominican Republic allows imports of 7 year-old vehicles
Santo Domingo.- The Chamber of Deputies on Tuesday approved an amendment to Tax Law 147-00 which raises the age limit of imported motor vehicles from five to seven years since manufactured.
The legislative initiative, which had been previously passed by the Senate, was approved in two consecutive sessions.
Deputy Guadalupe Valdez however raised concern over possible sag in tax revenue when, as expected, president Danilo Medina signs it into law, and asked the Chamber to consult the Internal Taxes Agency (DGII) first.
In that regard, deputy Esther Minyeti asked how many of her colleagues had actually read the bill fully, “because it seems to me that we don’t learn…because we want to declare legislation as emergency as if we didn’t have any more days to approve them.”
