Despite reductions in fuel Puerto Plata transporters will not lower fees

PUERTO PLATA The Transport Federation of Puerto Plata (FETTRAP), warned that despite notable reductions in gasoline, diesel and other fuels’ prices, there will be no decreases in prices of bus and public cars tickets valid from Puerto Plata to other regions.
According to the president of the FETRAPP; Cipriano Francisco Tavares (Fifi), unfortunately carriers do not use only fuel, but also have to buy lubricants, tires, pay taxes to the State by the label and the magazine of vehicles, accident insurance and carry other expenses that do not diminish with latest rebates on different types of fuel in the Dominican Republic.

The reporter Augusto (The diligent) Martinez, Francisco Tavares choferil leader Cipriano (Fifi), said that “if the authorities want to help carriers they should increase the fuel subsidy, for example, actual ticket cost from Puerto Plata to Imbert should be 40 pesos, but it is 50 pesos because of high costs involved for unions and associations choferiles. ”

On another note, Francisco Tavares asked the municipal authorities of Puerto Plata, Imbert, Altamira, Montellano and Sosúa to  implement effective measures to prevent horses and cows walk on the roads in the region, which still causes accidents in the traffic especially now when the Christmas holiday makers flock by thousands to this part of the country.
