Santo Domingo.- The Chamber of Deputies on Thursday approved a US$249.5 million loan to fund the hydroelectric complex at Monte Grande, Barahona province (west) and the reconstruction of the reservoir at Sabana Yegua, in Azua province (south).
The loans stem from a June 25, 2013, contract between Dominican Republic, Brazil’s National Economic and Social Development Bank (BNDES) and the contractor Constructora Andrade Gutiérrez.
The lower Chamber also approved a US$25.0 million loan with the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) to improve access to drinking water in Santiago’s metropolitan area and another for 6.9 million euros (US$8.9 million) to improve water management in rural areas of Greater Santo Domingo.
