Criminals steal more than a million pesos after destroying ATM in Puerto Plata
PUERTO PLATA – Last night a gang of criminals got caught with more than a million pesos cash after they had destroyed an ATM machine of Banco BHD, also had robbed a commercial establishment in front of Autonomous University of Santo Domingo (UASD) in Puerto Plata.
The Associate Director of Criminal Investigations of National Police, confirmed that the security supervisor of Banco BHD; Carlos Manuel Vargas Quezada reported that the ATM brand Diebold, located in the business “El Provocón” was violated by criminals who carried the vault containing the sum of one million one hundred and fifteen thousand pesos in cash.
In the same business establishment, owned by lawyer Rafael Torres Dario Wood, the unknown criminals broke into violently in the morning at gunpoint they stripped the private vigilante from a shotgun, caliber 12 mm, and a computer recording security camera, another computer for music, all these items valued at a hundred and ten thousand pesos. It is presumed that the same criminals, last night tried to withdraw a large sum of money at the gas station Shell located on Avenida Manolo Tavares Justo, near the entrance of the Tourist Cableway, they covered with a sticker the internal chamber ATM located there, but left swift so they were recorded by security cameras.
