“Constitution Week” activities begin
SANTO DOMINGO. The Chamber of Deputies will begin this Monday, at 11 o’clock in the morning the celebration of “Constitution Week,” an activity during which all of the Constitutions from the first Constitution of the Republic, which dates from 1844, until the current version enacted in 2010 will be on exhibit..
Through the initiative of the head of the lower chamber, Abel Martinez, and motivated by the 170th anniversary of the first Constitution, starting today Monday until next Friday, from 9:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m., the public will be able to view the 38 modifications that have been made to the nations Magna Carta since the Independence of the Republic. Martinez feels that it is fundamental for the preservation of democracy in the country, that the citizens, from childhood, know their duties and rights, which will make them, in the future, men and women empowered with the capacity to demand, but also to comply. In the exposition there will be a stand for the Infantile Constitution and the Braille Constitution.
