Christmas Fair on Pedro Clisante
For the fifth year, the foundation ‘Sosúa Kids’, this time together with the foundation ‘AAASosúa Friends of the Animals’, held a ‘Christmas Fair and Market’ in town. The event took place on Saturday, December 13 in the partially closed for traffic street Pedro Clisante. On both sides of the street many stalls were set up, offering all sorts of things for sale. Foods, drinks, art, jewelry, health products and much more.
For children there were all kinds of activities, e.g. a fishing game, bottle throwing, mini hockey and of course the bouncy castle. Instead of the very popular Dunk game, there was an artist with torches and a big butcher knife, to entertain the children. He juggled with the burning torches and did some jokes with the machete.
In previous years mostly foreigners used to come down to the market, now also many Dominicans showed up, to the great satisfaction of the organizing committee. Sosúa is a multicultural town and this became obvious last Saturday.
The raised money from all these activities will benefit ‘Sosúa Kids’ and ‘AAASosúa Friends of the Animals’. Sosúa Kids purchase school supplies for poor children in town and surrounding neighborhoods. The AAASosúa Foundation uses the money to provide medical care for (stray) dogs and cats.
