CAASD director rejects drinking water privatization
Santo Domingo.– Santo Domingo Aqueduct Utility (CAASD) director Alejandro Montas affirmed Friday that the drinking water sector cannot be privatized, because it is a source of life which is handled efficiently by the Dominican State.
Montas said that during the present government the water sector has received full support from President Danilo Medina, who has showed that it is not necessary that the water service is administered by private companies.
The official urged the authorities to pass the bill to create the General Water Law which has been in Congress for over 15 years awaiting consensus in water use priorities and define the national authority that will manage the water sector.
