Blood moon can be seen in DR
If you are game for getting up at 2 am, then check out the sight of the moon taking on a dramatic red color. NASA says the moon will begin to change color at about 2am Eastern Time on Tuesday, 12 August 2014.
The moon show will last through 4:24am, with the height of the event forecast for 3:45am.
It is not yet known if there will be a clear sky or some cloud cover.
The red moon is caused by a lunar eclipse. When the moon passes fully into the shadow of the earth and is no longer illuminated by the sun, large amounts of atmospheric dust scatter away the blue/green light and let the red light go straight through, shining on the moon.
