A foreign missionary in Caberete received 9 shots during burglary attack
PUERTO PLATA – Criminal actions are unstoppable in this province to the point that antisocial do not respect anyone when they commit their crimes. A foreign missionary who was at his residence in Cabarete was shot Friday morning. The assaulted was identified by police as the Canadian National Lef Welehmann, 64 years old, who had been living on the main road of Cabarete for several years, just in front of Hotel Martinis, in the La Rinconada sector.
This attack was perpetrated in the early morning hours of today when Welehmann discovered two men wearing maks tried to rob him from several belongings, but he showed resistance to the offenders and was shot nine times so he is in a fragile state right now at hospital.
The foreign missionary / businessman was struck in different parts of the body, including the chest, left leg , right knee, left arm and right knee, and is being torn between life and death in Cabarete Medical Center.
The case was submitted to agents of the Criminal Investigation Directorate Deputy National Police who immediately began investigating actions to apprehend the perpetrators of this crime.
