5 natural beauty products hiding in your kitchen

Sometimes the best beauty products can be found right in your kitchen. Many store bought products we spend so much money on contain harmful chemicals that can create long-term damage in the long run. Instead of risking your health for the sake of beauty turn to some of these all natural foods that will get you glowing in no time.

Coconut oil

Coconut oil is one of the best oils to cook with and can help with everything from digestion to disease prevention but it also does wonders for your skin. Use it as an all over body moisturizer instead of body lotion, add a drop or two of your favorite essential oil if you want something with more of a scent to it.  You can also make your own body scrub with it by mixing it with some brown sugar or some baking soda for a gentle facial scrub.

Cucumbers

Cucumbers are known for getting rid of under eye bags thanks to their cooling effects but they also make a fabulous skin toner. Cut and peel a cucumber and mix it up in a blender with 3 tablespoons witch hazel and 3 tablespoons bottled water and use just as you would a store bought toner on dry, clean skin. Keeping it in the fridge will keep it nice and cool and help it last a few weeks.

Kiwis

Kiwis are filled with ingredients that are good for your skin both inside and out. The high levels of alpha hydroxyl fruit acids and vitamin C can help brighten dull looking skin. Turn this super fruit into a face mask by mixing with some plain, whole yogurt or use it as a scrub with some finely ground oatmeal.

Oatmeal

Oatmeal has wonderful soothing properties that are commonly used for sensitive skin. It is excellent to reduce inflammation and acne. Cook up some oatmeal with some water, let it cool and apply it anywhere you have acne or red, inflamed skin.

Honey

Honey is another super food as good for the skin when used externally as internally. It has antimicrobial and antibacterial properties making it a great face wash, facial mask or scrub with some baking soda. For some extra body moisturizing soak in a bath with half a cup of honey and you’ll notice extra-smooth skin.
