170,000 Dominicans living in the US illegally will benefit from the US president
New York.- Some 170,000 Dominicans living in the US illegally will benefit from US president Barack Obama’s announced executive order on immigration, the NGO Quisqueya Foundation affirmed Tuesday.
Foundation executives Frank Valenzuela, Héctor Frias and Luis Espinosa affirm that that’s the number of undocumented Dominicans living in the US in 2012.
In a statement, the economists cited the estimates by the Pew Research Center study “Unauthorized Immigrant Totals Rise in 7 states, fall in 14,” published in Washington on Nov. 18.
The researchers of Quisqueya Foundation stress that the number of Dominicans either undocumented or living illegally in the US account for 31% of all immigrants from the Caribbean region, which the Pew Research Center estimates at 550,000 in 2012.
