Zero tolerance for violence against military and police
A total of ten killings have been reported in the capital and across the country in less than 72 hours, and the victims include two members of the armed forces and one police officer. At the same time the authorities are promising severe punishments for anyone who attacks someone whose job is to protect citizens.
In Yaguate, San Cristobal, police officer Jorge Brujan killed two men and injured a woman. He has been arrested and is under investigation.
A Police private, Edward Argenis Rosario Urbaez, was killed on Saturday, 16 November during a shootout with two alleged criminals, who were subsequently killed by another patrol. Speaking at the policeman’s funeral, Police Chief Major General Manuel Castro Castillo said that they would continue to deal firmly with criminals.
An Army Lieutenant Colonel shot and killed 54-year old Sergeant Delvis Marte Beato following an argument inside the army headquarters in Loma de Cabrera.
In another event, persons unknown murdered a member of Cesfront, Jorge Luis Infante Almonte, in a rural area near Dajabon and stole his gun.
