Wage hike talks stuck at labor’s 30%, management’s 14%
Santo Domingo.- Labor minister Maritza Hernandez on Wednesday said she ordered another meeting of the National Wage Committee next Wednesday to discuss the increase on the minimum wage, to reach a definitive agreement.
She said despite that the employers’ proposals and labor’s demands have advanced after three meetings, the talks need to conclude to make way for other processes such as proposed amendment to the Labor Code.
Meanwhile, union leader Gabriel del Rio said in that meeting, labor with maintain its demand of a 30% increase to the minimum wage, because management’s proposed 14 percent, “makes no sense.”
