US$1.2B Government payout in December will boost the economy
Santo Domingo.- The Government will disburse more than RD$50.0 billion (US$1.2 billion) in December, which is expected to jolt the economy and get a good start to the new year.
Administrative minister Jose Ramon Peralta, who made the announcement Monday afternoon, said the amount includes RD$19.0 billion of the regular salary and holiday bonus.
He said the Government also disburse a RD$10.0 billion advance to build classrooms and daycare centers, RD$10.0 billion to pay for infrastructure works and the remaining RD$11.0 billion for normal government spending.
Peralta said the injection of funds will allow the Government a more comfortable year end in terms of local debt and with a significant contribution to start next year with a more favorable position to boost the economy.
The official spoke about economic topics during a luncheon for economy editors of Dominican newspapers at the National Palace.
