Tricom-Orange to use Orange brand
The Altice Group, the European company that recently purchased majority stock in both Orange and Tricom telecom companies in the Dominican Republic says that its products will be branded as Orange. Altice Group president Patrick Drahi told the Dominican press on Wednesday, 11 December that the new company would entice Dominican consumers with good offers compared to what is paid for the service abroad. He announced they would be launching of fixed and mobile lines to more areas in the country with the latest technology. “We are not here to be the monster of the market, but to defy it,” he said, as reported in El Caribe. Drahi said he does not fear a price war.
Drahi said the new company would invest US$130 million a year for the next three years.
The deal with Orange is still pending approval by the Dominican Telecommunications Institute (INDOTEL).
