Traffic police equipped with new system
The Minister of Excise and Customs has announced in a press conference that the traffic police (AMET) will soon be equipped with an automatic system. With this system, traffic fines can be settled immediately. But they can also check in this system for traffic fines or other offenses which the traffic offender hasn’t paid yet. With the introduction of this system, the minister hopes to improve road safety. The Minister regrets that the Dominican Republic has the sad honor to be second (behind the island nation Nive) in having the most road deaths in the world.
