Tourism starts restoration of Colonial Zone’s historical facades
Santo Domingo.- The Tourism Ministry announced Wednesday the start of the “Restoration of historical facades” project, as part of the Colonial Zone’s tourism promotion program.
The initiative aims to beautify and renovate the historic facades of individuals homes in a dilapidated state within the Zone’s “Intra-muros” perimeter and improve the legacy of the edification and diversify its tourism attraction.
Program Coordinator and architect Maribel Villalona said Monuments Agency experts will select the houses, and will design and budget the renovation work.
“We work jointly and in a participatory manner to obtain the quality this requires, with the support and collaboration of all of the program’s beneficiaries. We are requesting their authorization and their commitment to participate,” the official said in a press conference.
