Tourism service classes
The first students have finished their tourism services class and received last Sunday afternoon their diplomas. The tourism services class is given every Sunday by teachers from the hotel and restaurant business in a classroom of the Gregorio Luperón school in El Batey. The students learn the basic skills needed to be able to work as receptionist or bartender in a hotel or restaurant. They learn how to cover a table and to serve meals and beverages, for example wine. They also learn how to use computer registration systems (room reservation, food and beverage reservation) which are used nowadays in numerous restaurants, bars and hotels.
With this qualification, candidates demonstrate that they have the basic skills for a job in the tourist industry.
