Top officials says 4% of GDP for education fully allocated
Santo Domingo.- Education minister Carlos Amarante affirmed Tuesday that the allocation of 4% of GDP to the 2013 budget for pre-university education is fully implemented.
He said the sectors that in some way follow up on educational issues can rest assured that president Danilo Medina and Education officials will guarantee that accomplishment by the Dominican people.
“Right now we’re in a dynamic process of calling for tenders to start the school year and in terms of building classrooms, childcare facilities, textbooks, uniforms, backpacks, on desks and furniture we’ve allocated around RD$36 billion,” the official said.
Amarante said budget allocations were adhered to satisfactory during the first half and the pace will be quickened for the plans of recovery during the second half.
He said the government has a social and political commitment to implement its social strategy. “The initial disadvantages in terms of operational logistics, non-financial and financial, are being overcome to close fiscal year 2013 successfully and meet the targets of our strategic plans and governance.”
