Top hotelier calls new US$110.0M boulevard ‘tourism’s new dawn’

Punta Cana, Dominican republic.- President Danilo Medina inaugurated the seven works that form the Eastern Tourist Boulevard, built at a cost of US$110 million.

Government officials, investors and tourism business leaders attended the ceremony in Bavaro’s Coco Loco junction, where Public Works minister Gonzalo Castillo said the concluded works reveal president Danilo Medina’s coherence, while Tourism minister Francisco Javier García said the works help halt sprawl in the country’s resorts.

Eastern Hoteliers Association president Ernesto Veloz called the works “signs of tourism’s new dawn,” and noted that since the start of construction in 2002, the tourism sector has chipped in RD$760 million to build them.
