The number of people displaced by Chantal Storm rises to 6,563
The Agency issued RED ALERT FOR TEN PROVINCES, Yellow alert for 16 provinces and Green for 6.
The number of people displaced by the storm Chantal amounted to 6,563 people across the country and a total of 933 homes affected, according to the latest bulletin from the Emergency Operations Center (EOC).
The Red Alert provinces are La Altagracia, the National District, San Cristobal, Santo Domingo, Peravia, San Pedro de Macoris, La Romana, Azua, Barahona and Pedernales.
The Yellow alert provinces: Duarte (especially the Lower Yuna), La Vega, María Trinidad Sánchez, Sánchez Ramírez, El Seibo, Hato Mayor, Monte Plata, Samana, Bahoruco, San José de Ocoa, San Juan de la Maguana, Independence Monsignor Nouel, Espaillat, Monte Cristi.
The Green are Hermanas Mirabal, Santiago, Dajabón, Santiago Rodriguez, Valverde and Elías Piña.
Also, the agency spokesman, General Juan Manuel Méndez García, said there had been only one death already mentioned in morning, firefighter Juan Ramirez, who died in Piedra Blanca, Monsignor Nouel, when he was sucked into the waters when unclog a sewer.
