The North’s biggest plants offline till May, expect blackouts
Santo Domingo.- The power plants of the company San Felipe will be offline until May 9 for major maintenance, with blackouts expected to intensify in Santiago and other towns of the north region (Cibao).
In a statement, the Edenorte energy distributor said there’ll be a deficit of 180 megawatts during that time. .
It said the lack of generation from the Cibao region’s biggest electricity supplier will force Edenorte to reprogram the energy served to customers as well as affect the 24 hour 00
In a separate statement, San Felipe said the annual major maintenance aims “to ensure the plant’s optimum availability for the rest of the year.”
