Temistocles Montas: I have prepared myself to govern
SANTO DOMINGO. Juan Temistocles Montas, one of the founders of the Dominican Liberation Party (PLD) is convinced that he has matured as a politician and statesman enough to launch his quest for the Presidency of the Republic.
“I believe that definitely, the first thing is that throughout those years of political activity, I can assure you that I have prepared myself to govern the Dominican Republic and provide a good answer,” he said confidently, during his interview on Dialogo Libre by Diario Libre.
Known as the bureaucrat who was delegated a large part of the campaign strategies and programs of the government, Montas stresses that he has been the one who put together all of the government programs that the PLD has presented to the country since the time of the former President Juan Bosch in 1990 up until the one being executed by President Danilo Medina.
He argues that within these main lines he has emphasized the social vocation inherited from Bosch, given the social problems that the majority of the Dominican populations faces, such as the high levels of poverty and inequality.
During the tours that promote his aspirations, he says that he explains to the PLD faithful the need for the PRD to remain as a political force which was created based on values, fundamentally in the fight for freedom and social justice.
