Tax Agency says it will reimburse for medical expenses
Santo Domingo.- Internal Tax Agency (DGII) director Guarocuya Felix yesterday announced that taxpayers’ medical expenses will be reimbursed, in the same way as with education.
He said to get a return for medical expenses people must get a tax-registry receipt from doctors, as it’s done now for educational expenses.
The official said he’s already met with Dominican Medical Guild (CMD) representatives to discuss the measure.
Interviewed by the Corripio Media Group, Felix said he favors a change in Dominican Republic’s tax composition. “Taxes are only a part of the income, not all. The country needs a new tax structure.”
He added that the country needs a new of public spending formula, “because ours is very rigid, and it cannot be amended only with government decisions, but with the type and quality of the agencies instead.”
