Spring fair in Constanza: an “Alpine” celebration in the heart of the Caribbean
For three days the valley of Constanza, situated in the central mountains of the Dominican Republic, will host a spring festival featuring music, color and flowers. Named by the BBC as “The Alps of the Caribbean,” the Constanza Spring Fair 2013 will be held at the “Hotel Nueva Suiza” from April 26-29.
The town of Constanza is situated in the very heart of the Caribbean’s highest mountain range.
The region is known for its spring-like temperatures and impressive agriculture. The friendliness of its people is also an added plus for visitors.
The goal of this thriving community is to continue to boost the local economy by promoting the development of sustainable tourism practices by using the region’s incredibly beautiful surroundings.
The festival will host local markets that will feature the agricultural products found in the Constanza valley.
There will also be workshops, conferences, horseback riding facilities, and cultural performances.
The fair is organized by the Constanza Ecotourism Cluster and sponsored by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), the Ministry of Tourism and the city of Constanza.
