Santo Domingo’s 2nd subway line is ready
Santo Domingo.- Transport Reform Office (OPRET) director Diandino Peña on Tuesday announced that the construction of the Metro 2nd Line (subway) has been completed. “We’re ready for the line to enter an initial operation phase this month, commercially speaking.”
“The Metro Line 2 starts from station 7, Luperon Avenue, to station 20, at the Francisco del Rosario Sanchez, 14 stations are available,” he said, noting that Line 2 aims to provide service to more than 275,000 straphangers daily.
Peña also denied that Medina isn’t planning to build a third line in the National District, and affirmed that he favors the construction of a line to reach the Colonial Zone of the Dominican capital. “I think that impact would be extremely important to place the city in the hands of tourists, and vice verse.”
