San Francisco de Macoris to host First Cacao Festival
San Francisco de Macoris, DR.– Producciones Mayo and the San Francisco de Macoris City Hall held a press conference to give details on the 1st Cacao Festival to be held in San Francisco de Macoris from 4 to 6 October.
San Francisco de Macoris mayor Felix Manuel Rodriguez Grullon welcomed the journalists and special guests and expressed his joy for the upcoming festival which will highlight the excellent quality of Dominican cacao.
According to tha mayor, the Dominican Republic occupies the third place in cocoa production in the Americas and 8th place in the world. “We hope this event will be institutionalized and held every year,” Rodriguez pointed out.
The exhibition will be divided into different stations for complete coverage of the wonderful and rich cocoa production: planting; crop; fermentation, washing and drying; benefits to the environment; finished products; information center; gallery and conferences; and artistic performances.
The Dominican Republic has been included in the select group of 15 countries recognized worldwide as gourmet cocoa producers.
