Punta Cana basks in 35% jump in Russian tourist arrivals
Santo Domingo.- Russia’s tourist arrivals jumped 35% in 2012 and 33% the first quarter this year, mostly to Punta Cana (east), whose airport receives 12 direct weekly flights from that country
The figures are from the article “The rising Russian tide in Punta Cana” of the agency CICOM, which notes that the region has become the Russians’ top destination in the Caribbean in just five years.
CICOM adds that Russia has also become Dominican Republic’s 5th largest market for visitors, who brave the around 12-hour flight from Moscow.
