Puerto Plata has become a tourist destination for short term only
PUERTO PLATA. – “The Bride of the Atlantic”, is the place on the north coast that hosts thousands of tourists from different countries of the world during the period from December to April each year.
Puerto Plata is one of the major tourist cities in the Dominican Republic, which for years was the number one destination selected by foreigners, which unfortunately today is nothing more than a destination in past, in which countless tourists are housed only by season.
Both European and American guests, visit the “silver cup” so that many foreigners choose to have their own homes in the area, although only used for a specified period of the year. The counter is that every year it seems that tourism in Puerto Plata will have a better approach, but always culminating in the temporary and due to this situation the city has become a short-term target. The Ministry of Tourism and others, year after year advertise and ensure that tourism will improve in the province, but unfortunately it is the opposite, rather than increasing the tourism is rapidly decreasing. Most of the citizens living in this province regretted that the local tourism industry for many years had been the economic livelihood of the region, but at the present time it is being threatened with extinction.
