Puerto Plata Festival 2013 November 15-17 at Plaza Independencia
PUERTO PLATA. – For the second consecutive year the Independence Square in Puerto Plata will become the stage to celebrate the Provincial Festival of Puerto Plata (FEPP) , to be held from the 15′th to 17′th of November.
In this edition , the event will feature exhibition, demonstration , tasting and selling 100 products of different brands identified in the nine municipalities of the province, highlighting the wide diversity of experiences and services offered by each region.
The full festival program will include a number of craft activities, art and culture starting from day 13 , with a TURISOPP project display at Casa de Cultura. The interest of the show is to expose the four year history of the project, the development model of products and services , international cooperation strategy of Japan among others.
Event organizers announced that the 15th will be the formal opening ceremony at 4pm at Plaza Independencia, where the ambassadors of Canada and Japan , Georges Boissé and Soichi Sato , respectively , will be present.
They reported that there will be offered amenities for the whole family covering cultural activitie , live music, dance competitions, by over twenty local groups, all covered under the motto ” Courage and Rhythm ” .
Among the special activities is highlighted the provincial championship dancers of bachata. On Sunday the show ” The Power of Tambora will bring together twenty percussionists of Puerto Plata, under the direction of Joel Guzman puertoplateño musician and with the special participation of renowned percussionist Felle Vega.
They called upon the entire community to provide support for the Provincial Festival. The main objective of the event is to encourage the evaluation of Puerto Plata as a tourism destination.
The Provincial Festival is organized by the Sustainable Tourism project based on the Private Public Participation for the Province of Puerto Plata ( TURISOPP ) , Network ( UMPC ) , the Ministry of Tourism , INFOTEP , the Chamber of Commerce of Puerto Plata and ASHONORTE . It has the support of JICA , the Ministry of Economy, Planning and Development ( MEPyD ) Destination Tourism Cluster of Puerto Plata, the Dominican Tourism Press Association ( ADOMPRETUR ) , the Ministry of Culture, the City Council , the Provincial Government , Ministry of Environment , the Bishop of Puerto Plata and universities UTESA , O & M and CURA – UASD .
