Pastor sentenced to 20 years for sex abuse of boys
An evangelical pastor has been sentenced to 20 years in jail after being found guilty of sexually abusing four boys in Villa Mella. The sentence was handed down by judges of the First Collegiate Tribunal of Santo Domingo against Simon Elias Ramirez Luciano, who was also ordered to pay RD$4 million in compensation and a RD$200,000 fine. According to a statement from the District Attorney of Santo Domingo, Ramirez Luciano used his position as pastor and the person in charge of prayer groups from the Sol de Justicia church to seduce 11 and 12-year old boys. The Justice Department verified that the youth pastor of the church located at Kilometer 10 1/2 told the boys that they had to pass a test in order to take part in the religious activities that he organized.
The boys confessed to their mothers that Simon Elias Ramirez Luciano had raped them. According to the sentence, the convicted pastor must serve his sentence in La Victoria Prison. The boys, between 11 and 12 years of age, revealed that Ramirez Luciano forced them to perform a series of sexual acts that he called the nine steps, which he told them were necessary to reach consecration.
