Officials who lie on financial statements face 10 years in jail
The vote came after a debate over a Committee Justice report, which notes that the law will force civil servants to declare the origin of their properties.
It also states that 30 days after leaving the post, the official must submit a final statement, and that’s added to the assets of the spouse.
If a public servant fails to submit their statement within the stipulated timeframe, or omits some asset, they’ll be guilty of a felony, and could face up to 10 years in prison.
