New campaign to promote Dominican salami in Haiti
Santo Domingo.– A major campaign to promote the consumption of Dominican salami will take place in Haiti for its population to be aware that the sausage has no impediment for sale.
The Government spokesman, doctor Roberto Rodriguez Marchena, revealed that after a meeting between the Dominican president Danilo Medina and his Haitian counterpart Michel Martelly during the recent 5th Summit of Heads of State and Government of the Association of Caribbean States held in the Haitian capital.
Last year, the Consumer Protection Agency’s (ProConsumidor) warned that 15% of the salamis processed in the Dominican Republic contained fecal coliform and carcinogenic nitrites in an even higher percentage. Months later, Public Health authorities certified that the problem was solved.
