Motor car circulation sticker renewals set for October

Department of Taxes (DGII) director Guarocuya Felix confirmed yesterday that this October starts the renewal process for the vehicular circulation permits for 2013-2014. The government authorized that this year the tax be RD$1,200 for vehicles manufactured in 2008 or before, and RD$2,200 for those manufactured in 2009 be maintained. Felix said that the amendment in the date for the implementation of the law would need to be submitted to Congress. The Fiscal Reform Law dated November 2012 had set a date of August-September for the payment of what would have been a progressive tax.

The revoking of the application of the progressive tax on vehicular circulation will set the government back by RD$1.8 billion in taxation revenues.
