Ministry says of 11.2M trees planted last year, 9.03M survived
Santo Domingo. – Of the 11.2 million trees planted last year, 80 percent, or 9.03 million survived and are now adults, including pine, mahogany and cedar, among others throughout the country.
Environment minister Bautista Rojas provided the figures in response to Tuesday’s editorial in newspaper El Dia. titled ” Forest audit,” which lauded the agency’s progress in reforestation efforts.
El Dia editor in chief Rafael Molina Morillo noted that to plant 11.2 million trees since August last year is a hard task.
Rojas urged Morillo to continue his quality journalism and professional ethics, and thanked him for his constant support of the Environment Ministry.
