Medina takes his first ride on 2nd subway line
Santo Domingo,- President Danilo Medina arrived promptly at 10am Monday at the downtown station Centro de los Heroes, and visited the salon in memory of the Heroes of Constanza, Maimon and Estero Hondo expedition, to cut the ribbon on Santo Domingo’s 2nd Metro (subway) line.
Waiting for Medina arrived were cardinal Nicolas de Jesus Lopez Rodriguez, Transport Reform Office director Diandino Peña, Public Works minister Gonzalo Castillo, Santo Domingo mayor Roberto Salcedo, among other officials.
Medina boarded a car of the second Metro line, which will be free of charge through Sunday, until the station at the Gomez corner of Kennedy and continued to the Maria Montez station, at the 9 kilometer marker on the Duarte highway.
The 14 stations of the Metro’s 2nd line span around 13 kilometers and cross several major North-South thoroughfares.
