Medina postpones higher license plate fee till next year
Santo Domingo. – President Danilo Medina on Sunday said he instructed the Internal Taxes Agency to postpone raising the fee on license plates until next year, after the measure had been met with wide rebuke.
He said the fee on tags, which will be charged starting October 2013, will remain the same.
Medina also said the fee won’t be charged in August, so it doesn’t coincide with the start of the school year, “so not to burden the pockets of citizens, ” adding that though the economy slowed in the first quarter, has again accelerated in the second quarter.
