Medina orders Yuna River dredged to solve historical flooding
San Francisco, Dominican Republic.- President Danilo Medina yesterday ordered the dredging of 20 kilometers of the Yuna river to resolve the historical flooding that affects more than 9,000 hectares of rice plantations in its lower basin.
The president met with growers and members of the irrigation committee at Limon del Yuna and the Aglipo II project, to discuss and solve problems starting today Monday. Medina ordered heavy equipment to the area, to start dredging the river immediately.
New Year Greetings
President Medina will receive New Year greetings from many people tomorrow Tuesday, a tradition that dates to the late 1970s, began by the late president Joaquin Balaguer.
